Note: The recommended person cannot offer counselling as this is a ward and only longer-term treatments can be offered within the ward. | "Some of the language on the forms is outdated (only men addressed). Staff respectful and polite. I can't say anything about pronouns, but I would assume that the employees use the pronoun that the person wants. The Diakonie-Krankenhaus Harz has a distinctly Christian profile, which is lived by the employees. People of faith and queer people sometimes find themselves in a tense intersection that can cause or exacerbate difficulties. In my experience, the staff at the APP ward provide very empathetic and intelligent support and position themselves very clearly as "Allys" - in other words, they stand up for the rights, integrity and value of queer people. I also think the therapy at the APP of the Diakonie-Krankenhaus Harz is outstandingly good for people without a crisis of faith or belief. Unlike in other therapies, I have not experienced that my queerness was considered the cause of my mental health problems under the guidance of Dr Wilhelm. Queer identities and lifestyles are recognised as such and not pathologised. The actual problems are treated. The senior physician Dr Wilhelm and his ward are currently in the process of adapting to the needs of queer people. This is an openly expressed wish of the senior physician, who obviously cares about the queer community. Also as a Christian. I have experienced a great deal of honest interest, willingness to reflect and goodwill. The senior doctor and team are in the process of creating a safe therapeutic environment for queer people. I experienced the endeavour as honest and profound. Since, as far as I know, no one on the team is queer in any way, the staff are particularly dependent on the internal perspective of their queer patients in order to learn more about what it takes for queer people to do therapy well on the APP ward. This can mean that here and there things don't run "smoothly" or optimally at first. I can imagine that it is helpful if a queer person only decides to undergo therapy there if they have the strength to point out where their needs and boundaries lie. Ideally from a benevolent attitude. I have developed the confidence that there are people working there who want to do well and want to develop. The recommendation applies expressly ONLY to the APP ward! I cannot make any statements about other wards."
