"The contact with the staff of the plastic/aesthetic and hand surgery department was always pleasant and uncomplicated. Mr Allert and his team used my pronouns and my chosen name and communicated this as well as possible in the clinic. Mr Allert himself seemed sensitive, trained and understanding in dealing with gender dysphoria and related issues. During my inpatient stay (2 days), I had contact with many nurses and carers who otherwise respected my form of address and changed to the correct form/pronoun/name after a small hint from me. Unfortunately, my old name is on my patient wristband because it couldn't be changed in the system until it was on the health insurance card. In my case, a reference to "male" and/or my chosen name was added to all documents that were not formulated in a gender-neutral way. The hospital is not specifically geared towards gender-sensitive issues and is not barrier-free in this respect. Even though everyone made an effort towards me, I do not know the whole team and cannot make any statements about their behaviour and treatment of trans*people."
