‘I found the staff at the Charité Breast Centre in Mitte to be very friendly and helpful. Despite often long waiting times, you are treated respectfully and politely here. At the same time, the sensitivity for trans* identities is unfortunately not particularly pronounced. I pointed out my chosen name and pronouns once in writing and again during a phone call. I was told apologetically that the staff were ‘not yet so familiar with this kind of thing’ and unfortunately I was almost never called correctly. In the written questionnaires and documents, the breast centre always uses ‘:’ to reflect gender diversity, but unfortunately you don't notice much of this in personal contact.’
