I’d never had a PAP smear or an internal ultrasound scan before, and I hadn’t been for a gynaecological examination for years. The examinations didn’t hurt and I was able to remain partially clothed, so it was a positive experience and my previous fears weren’t confirmed. [The] doctor [was] the first to suggest an alternative to medication […]. Two other practices (my GP and the endocrinology department) hadn’t offered any alternative (they’d only mentioned dietary advice)."
